What is stress?
People often confuse stress with pressure. Whilst pressure can increase focus, energy and optimise performance, too much pressure, or when exposed for a prolonged period of time, can significantly increase stress levels.

The Health and Safety Executive defines stress as “an adverse reaction people have to excessive pressures or other types of demand placed on them.” And, whilst we all experience stress in our lives, it can have a major impact on your personality, productivity and long-term mental health.

Why is boosting resilience so important?
Building personal resilience is key to managing your own physical and mental wellbeing, but why is it so important? Resilient people can keep functioning both physically and psychologically when they experience adversity or stress. They are also better able to bounce back and deal with adverse situations in a positive and creative way.
